I see the sky

It’s vibrant blue, scudding white,

light shining through clouds,

the grey promise of rain

A breathtaking wonder

And yet,

All too often,

We play out our lives oblivious to its grandeur.

Earth bound, gravity harnessed beings

We scurry around the surface

So focused on the myriad details of our little lives

The minutiae that consume our minds

Ever looking downwards

We miss the splendour, the wonder and the grace

that overarches everything

When all we have to do is lift our eyes

and look up.
